Hvordan er personligheten til Savannahkatten? Savannahkatten er en aktiv, harmonisk, intelligent og sosial rase som har gemytt som kan ligne på en hund. Savannah er en aktiv rase men er ikke av de aller mest aktive.Den er lærenem og følger gjerne etter deg rundt i huset og kan ofte trenes til enkle ting som og gå i bånd eller leke apport med ball. Våre katter er også veldig kosete og elsker og ligge på fanget, men det er jo selvfølgelig individuelle forskjeller. Går de godt sammen med andre dyr? Katter fra oss er vant til andre dyr fra ung alder. Hos oss blir de vant til andre katter, akvarium og hund. Liker de vann? De fleste liker vann, ikke i den forstand at de liker og bli vasket, dusjet eller badet men de liker og leke med vann. Blant annet dupper de fleste alltid labben i vannskålen før de drikker. Hvor stor blir en Savannah i de senere generasjonen? Savannah er en mellom stor til stor katterase. Siden dette er en så ny rase varierer størrelsen fortsatt mye også i de senere generasjonene. En Savannah er ikke utvokst for den er 3-4 år, den vokser i skjellete i ca 2 år og bygger muskelmasse etter det. Hannkattene blir større en hunnkattene og har en gjennomsnittlig skulderhøyde mellom 30-40cm. Det er vanskelig med vekt da en Savannah ofte ser større ut en det den veier pga lange ben og slank kroppsform men hannkattene veier vanligvis mellom 5-9kg. Dette kommer til å stabilisere seg med tiden når rasen er mere utviklet i de senere generasjonene. Dette er noe vi kommer til å fokusere mye på i vårt oppdrett. Hunnkattene er mindre og veier vanligvis mellom 3,5-5kg. Hva er noen av de rasetypiske trekkene til Savannah? En Savannahkatt skal ha store ører høyt oppå hodet, ha en slank kropp og lange bein. Den skal ha prikker ikke rosetter. Savannah er godkjent i fire forskjellige farger Black Spottet Tabby, Silver Spotted Tabby, Black og Black Smoke. Kan Savannahkatter stilles ut i Norge? Savannah kan ikke stilles i katteutstillinger arrangert av Norsk Rasekatt Forbund da dette ikke er en godkjent rase i FiFe. Men det er en godkjent rase i TICA og kan stilles ut i TICA arrangerte katte show. Siden rasen fortsatt er så ny kan den ikke bli Champion enda. NORticats er en Norsk charteret TICA klubb og de arrangerer katteshow som Savannahkatter kan stilles ut i. SBT Savannahkatter kan også stilles ut i katteutstillinger arrangert av noen Independentklubber. Hva betyr F1, F2 osv? F1 er første generasjon etter Serval, F2 er annen generasjon osv. F1-F4 er ikke lovelige i Norge, første lovelige generasjon er F5. Hva er en SBT Savannah? Ofte ser man at det står en bokstav i sammen med generasjonen foreksempel F5C. Det disse bokstavene står for er hvor mange generasjoner det er parret Savannah med Savannah. Hvis det står en A så er det en Savannah krysset med en annen rase som for eksempel Egyptisk Mau eller Bengal. Hvis du krysser to A registrerte Savannahkatter så far du B registrerte Savannahkatter. Krysser du de to B Savannahkattene så får du en C registrert SV. Hvis du da krysser to C registrerte SV da får du SBT altså 4 generasjoner med ren Savannah X Savannah krysning, SBT står for Stud Book Traditional. Det er SBT som er fremtiden til rasen og når det er avlet nok SBT Savannah katter vil rasen rykke opp det siste hakket i TICA så katten kan konkurrere om og bli Champion i utstillinger. Alt før SBT blir regnet som hybrider ikke renrasede Savannahkatter. SBT gjør også at du får katter med jevnere kvalitet og gemytt. Det er fortsatt meget få SBT Savannahkatter i verden. Er alle hannkattene sterile? Nei, de senere generasjonshannkattene er fertile. F1-F4 generasjon er sterile, det finnes noen få fertile F4 hannkatter i verden men de er meget sjeldne. Hvor gamle kan de bli? Siden dette fortsatt er en så ny rase kan man ikke si det med sikkerhet, men eksperter avslår mellom 15-20 år. Dette gjelder selvsagt ved godt stell, oppfølging fra dyrlege og holdt som innekatt.

HEAD: Shape: The face forms an equilateral triangle. The top of the triangle is the brow line over the eyes; the sides follow down the jaw bone meeting at the chin. The triangle excludes the ears. The head is small in proportion to the body.
Ears: Ears are extremely large and high on the head. They are wide with a deep base, and have rounded tops. The inside base of the ears is set close at the top of the head. Ear furnishings may be present; pronounced ocelli are desirable.
Eyes: Medium sized and set underneath a slightly hooded brow. The top of the eye resembles a boomerang, which is set at an exact angle so that the corner of the eye slopes down the line of the nose. The bottom half of the eye has an almond shape. The eyes are moderately deep set, low on the forehead, and at least one eye width apart. Tear stain markings are present along and between the eyes and the nose. All eye colors are allowed and are independent of coat color.
Chin: From the frontal view the chin tapers to follow the triangle of the head. In profile, the angle from the nose to the chin slants back, which may cause the chin to appear shallow.
Muzzle: The muzzle is tapered with no break. It falls within the bottom portion of the facial triangle that runs from the brow to the point of the chin.
Profile: The forehead is a straight to slightly convex curve from the top of the head to the ridge just above the eye, where there is a slight change of direction and a straight to very-slight concave curve from that ridge to the tip of the nose. In profile, the face also forms a triangle from the top of the eye to the tip of the nose, turning to follow the jaw line and back up to the eye.
Nose: Viewing from the front, the nose is wide across the top with low set nostrils. In profile, there is a slight downward turn at the end, giving a rounded appearance. Nose leather is slightly convex, not flat.
Neck: Long and lean.
BODY: Torso: A semi-foreign body type with a full deep rib cage, a slight, but not extreme tuck-up, and a rounded rump. The hip and thigh are full and long, and somewhat heavy in proportion to the rest of the body.
Legs: Very long and slender yet strong. Back legs are slightly longer than the front legs, and due to this extreme length, may now and then give a false appearance of being cow-hocked.
Feet: Oval, small to medium, with elongated toes.
Tail: Medium to thick in width. Medium in length, ending between the hock and just above ground level when standing, with preferred length just below the hock. Tail should taper slightly to a blunt end. Whippy tails are not desired.
Boning: Medium boning with density and strength.
Musculature: Firm and well developed. Athletic yet not bulky. Lean but not delicate.
COAT: Coat: Short to medium in length with good substance and a slightly coarse feel to it. Coarser guard hairs cover a softer undercoat. The spots have a notably softer texture than the texture of the ground color hairs. The coat is not inordinately dense and lies relatively flat against the body. Glitter is not desired.
COLORS: Brown (Black) Spotted Tabby, Black Silver Spotted Tabby, Black, Black Smoke. No preference is given to ground color on the Brown (Black) Spotted Tabby. Bold solid markings are preferred on all tabbies; ghost markings preferred on solid blacks and a visible pattern on black smokes
In any variation the lips are black, and the tear duct lines are prominent. On the spotted Savannahs the nose leather can be solid brick red, pink, or black, as well as red or pink surrounded by black. In black Savannahs, the nose leather must be solid black. Paw pads in any color variation should be deep charcoal or brownish black.
PATTERN: The spotted Savannah pattern is made up of bold, solid dark brown to black spots, which can be round, oval, or elongated. Rosettes are not desired. A series of parallel stripes, from the back of the head to just over the shoulder blades, fan out slightly over the back and the spotting pattern follows the line of the stripes from the shoulders continuing the length of the body. Vertically aligned spots are not desired. Smaller spots may be found on the legs and feet, as well as on the face. The black Savannah should be solid black. Black spotting on a black background is preferred. The spots should conform to the spotted Savannah's description. The smoke pattern should conform to the spotted Savannah’s description.
TEMPERAMENT: The ideal Savannah is confident, alert, curious and friendly.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The overall impression of the Savannah is a tall lean graceful cat with striking dark spots and other bold markings, on a background color of any shade of brown, silver, black or black smoke. The Savannah cat is a domestic breed which closely resembles it’s ancestral source the African Serval, but is smaller in stature. Affectionate and outgoing, with exceptionally long neck, legs, and tall ears, as well as a medium length tail, the Savannah is both unusual and beautiful. The Savannah is also an exceptionally graceful, well-balanced cat with striking color and pattern.
PENALIZE: Spots that are any color other than dark brown to black. Any distinct locket. Mackerel tabby type stripes. Cobby body. Small ears.
DISQUALIFY: Extra toes, any fused, or kinked tail.
Temperament must be unchallenging; any sign of definite challenge shall disqualify. The cat may exhibit fear, seek to flee, or generally complain aloud but may not threaten to harm."
Evidence of intent to deceive the judge by artificial means, cats with all or part of their tail missing (except those breeds whose standard calls for this feature), totally blind cats, cats having more or less than five toes on each front foot and four on each back foot (unless proved to be the result of an injury or as authorized by a Board approved standard), male cats in the adult championship class which do not have two descended testicles, and, at the discretion of the judge, tail faults (visible or invisible) and/or crossed eyes shall be disqualified.
